Early Years Foundation Stage Learning (EYFS)

'The EYFS snack cafe is ingenious and embodies the school’s ethos. Located in the wide, bright corridor close to the EYFS classrooms, cafe style tables are provisioned with menus, including prices. Children take turns managing the cafe , taking orders, collating those orders on a display board, preparing the meals (from toast to cereals and similar) and serving their peer clients. Global cultural events are cleverly woven into the menu. Literacy, numeracy and life skills are built into the activity as pupils work together, largely independent of adult intervention.' We explore and learn both outside and inside, through a wide range of experiences either led by an adult or set up for the children. In the Nursery and Reception classes, we follow children's ideas and interests alongside the topics of Seasons, Celebrations and Changes.
